WHY I VOTED 'YES'

24-02-2010 13:46

A new Golf365 polls shows that viewers were unimpressed by Tiger Woods' performance in the front of the cameras last Friday.

Woods fought back tears as he issued a full and frank apology for cheating on his wife and that prompted us to ask the question: "Was it a good first step in rebuilding his damaged reputation?

Although "Yes" (36%) outweighed the vote for "No, he made things worse" (22%...

LESSON NUMBER ONE

11-11-2009 12:06

At the end of the film, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, American Office star Steve Carell and the cast burst into joyful song after he finally gets laid.

And I had a very similar feeling of euphoria yesterday after finally biting the bullet and doing it with a pro.

Yes, somehow I had reached 40 years old and never had a golf lesson - a ridiculous state of affairs given that I had clearly reached a c...

MERSEY PARADISE

21-10-2009 09:21

There is nothing firmly in place yet to get the Open back to Hoylake but after lifting the claret jug there in 2006 Tiger Woods was in no doubt that Royal Liverpool deserved another crack.

Woods said back then: "Well, I think it's a very fair golf course. You can play it so many different ways and it lends itself to a bunch of different styles, but ultimately it's fair. It's not tricked up at a...

TOUR CHAMPS BETTING PREVIEW

22-09-2009 11:23

I've always held the opinion that current form counts for most when trying to pick the winner of the Tour Championship.

And that belief has been crystalized in the last few years with the last two winners - Camilo Villegas and Tiger Woods - going into the event on the back of a victory while 2006 winner Adam Scott had lost out in a play-off on his penultimate start.

A second angle I'm...

SMITTEN BY SKYCADDIE

16-09-2009 08:00

I'd read a bit about SkyCaddies but to be honest had somewhat dismissed them as slightly unnecessary, another of those indulgent "toys for the boys" gadgets.

But when one arrived in the Golf365 offices for testing I did get a little bit excited. As usual with me that excitement translated into a refusal to actually read the instructions. Why get bogged down in paperwork when there are buttons t...

TIME TO SEEK HELP

09-09-2009 11:20

My week got off to a rather humiliating start.
I was beaten (make that thrashed by seven shots) by my three-year-old on Wii Sports Resort golf.
I should probably get used to this sort of thing - son beating dad - but it only seems like yesterday that he was cradled in my arms drinking milk.
However, it is definitely a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it's highly embarrassing to lose to a ri...

DAVE TINDALL ST MELLION BLOG

10-06-2009 07:51

Sunday 7th June

19.00
Flight from Leeds down to Plymouth (via Bristol) is delayed an hour. Take the chance to watch a bit of the Twenty20 cricket in the airport lounge and read an interesting front page story about 'Twitter' in Time Magazine. Three thoughts are running through my head as I head off to St Mellion. 1) Will I make an idiot of myself in the press golf competition?...

OBAMA'S GOLF OBSESSION

01-06-2009 10:06

I have US politics and golf on the brain at the moment.

I'm currently reading "The Secret Man - The story of Watergate's Deep Throat" whilst I'm still rueing the fact that Alvaro Quiros failed to win the European Open on Sunday after I followed Matt Cooper's advice to back him at 40/1 (did someone get to the Spaniard before he teed off on 18?).

So it was somewhat appropriate that the first...

THINKING OF AMY

22-05-2009 10:45

"I was fortunate to win the Masters. But I'm more fortunate to have a great life partner in my wife, Amy, with whom I share everything.

"To win my first major without my family around would have been unthinkable. To win it with them there, to share in that wonderful moment with me, made it absolutely priceless.

"Amy sometimes wears a small bracelet on her wrist. It's a circle with three char...

A WAITING GAME

05-05-2009 13:47

It's been a long wait.

And I mean that on two levels.

1) My wife was due to give birth to our second child eight days ago but still no sign.

2) This morning I played a round of golf for the first time in over four years.

Now, I know what you're thinking. The latter looks a little irresponsible given that the new arrival could come at any moment.

However, I can assure you that as soo...
