Chipping uphill - get it down

Last updated: 30th January 2009

If you are faced with a chip to a hole located on an uphill slope, get the ball on the ground as soon as possible. Use a 5- or 6-iron to chip the ball low and and have it run up to the cup. If you hit a lofted club, the ball will land and stop on the hill. In practice, learn to chip with all of your irons rather than just a pitching or sand wedge. This will put more weapons in your arsenal.
