Lee Westwood could be seen with Ashes-winning captain Michael Vaughan as his caddie some time soon - but not at next week's Scottish Open.

Westwood's current bag-man Billy Foster misses Loch Lomond because he is doing a 90-mile charity walk from there to Open venue Turnberry - complete with bag on his shoulder.

Vaughan, a member of the same management stable as the Ryder Cup star, mentioned the possibility of stepping in on announcing his retirement from cricket earlier this week.

But Westwood said on Friday in Paris, where he is in contention for the French Open title: "Considering how much money we are playing for next week I didn't think it was the right time.

"Maybe in the future, though. He's only used to carrying a bat and a helmet, so he can get in training!"

Foster is hoping to raise £50,000 for the Darren Clarke Foundation in aid of breast cancer and the Candlelighters Children's Cancer Trust. The walk starts next Thursday and he plans to arrive in Turnberry the following Monday.

"I was planning to have that day off, but perhaps I'll put him through 36 holes on Tuesday," joked Westwood, who now has Padraig Harrington's former caddie Dave McNeilly lined up for the Scottish Open.
