Jammy Jamie's double hole-in-one

Most golfers dream of getting one hole-in-one in a lifetime but 19-year-old Jamie Brittain has grabbed two in the same round.
The aspiring professional from Wrekin GC in Shropshire, England defied odds estimated to be 67 million to 1 when he claimed a hole-in-one on both the 12th and 17th holes during a round this week.
Both par-threes on the steeply undulating course are uphill with semi-blind greens so Jamie didn't see either ball drop in the hole. "But I knew they were both close when I hit the shots," he told Golf365 whilst eating a quick pasta lunch prior to a Friday afternoon match against friends.
He hit 7-iron on the 160 yard 12th and used pitching wedge on the 127 yard 17th for his two extraordinary blows.
"It was quite a weird feeling when it happened on the 12th and I did a little jump for joy when I found the ball in the cup. But it was even weirder to get a second on the 17th and I didn't even win the hole! I shot one nett two and the guy I was playing with holed a putt right across the green to halve with a birdie!"
The only disappointment was that his grandfather Gerald Brittain had walked in after 11 holes so missed all the action.
Astonishingly, on the 14th hole, Jamie very nearly added another ace - his tee shot took one bounce, crashed into the flag but refused to drop.
Nor were those three holes the only highlights of an amazing round: he had birdied the 9th, 10th and 11th holes prior to the first hole-in-one so played four holes around the turn in a scintillating five-under par.
Thrilling runs of high quality scoring are nothing new to the youngster however.
Playing in last year's County Champions event at Woodhall Spa he played the back nine of one of England's toughest courses in six-under: "And my chip for eagle on the last lipped out so it could have been seven-under!"
News of the double achievement has spread quickly, with newspapers, television and radio all wanting to talk to Jamie, much to the amusement of his friends and other members at Wrekin GC.
"First thing this morning," said one friend in mock exasperation, "I turned the radio on and it was Jamie Brittain this, Jamie Brittain that. I wanted to phone them and say, 'It was only off the winter mats, you know.'"
Others were making pointed references to Jamie's nickname - Jammy Brittain.
Jamie, however, is taking things in his stride, staying calm and is looking at the bigger picture.
His main aim this year is to improve his amateur ranking and force his way into the England squads for next winter.
He qualified for the Brabazon Trophy last year and has high hopes of a repeat with this year's event being held at Royal Liverpool.
His first event of the season will be the Duncan Putter at Southerndown in South Wales and he can't wait to transfer his stunning early season form into the big amateur competitions.
